Professional LLCs
Professional limited liability companies (PLLCs) are limited liability companies organized for the purpose of providing professional services. What services constitute professional services and thus require a PLLC are defined by state law, and vary from state to state. However, they typically include professions requiring a license, for example doctors, chiropractors, lawyers, accountants, architects and engineers. If you are unsure whether you should form a PLLC, please call us to discuss.
Taxation
By default, LLC's are subject to "pass through" taxation, where the income (or loss) of the LLC is "passed through" to the members, who recognize the income (or loss) on their personal tax returns. For a single member LLC, this income (or loss) is reported on Schedule C of Form 1040. For an LLC with multiple members, the income (or loss) is reported on Schedule K-1 of Form 1065.
